Merced County Historical Society
Merced County Historical Society, a tax-exempt, non-profit organization, was established on February 19, 1962. When the Society was first organized, it's sole purpose was to secure funds to construct a building to collect, preserve, research, and interpret historical records and artifacts. Today, the Historical Society, in partnership with County of Merced, operates Merced County Courthouse Museum which provides many educational programs and cultural resource management. The Museum aims to encourage the love and understanding of Merced County's natural, archaeological and recorded history.

To successfully run the Museum, Merced County Historical Society provides the museum's operating budget through the collection of membership dues, memorials, and donations. Merced County Historical Trust was established to receive and manage gifts. Generous contributors and members like you make the museum possible. Thank You.

The Historical Society currently has over 700 active members. Our members enjoy many benefits of membership such as:
  • Announcements of exhibit opening receptions
