Exhibit Opening at the Courthouse Museum

Thursday, May 23, 2024
Merced County Courthouse Museum will open the “Merced County Times: 60 Years of Positive Press” exhibit on Thursday, May 23, at 5 p.m. Starting with his Remington typewriter on his kitchen table 60 years ago, Merced County Times publisher John Derby created the very first issue of this weekly newspaper. Since 1964, the Times has become an indispensable source of local news in our community, thanks to the hard work of its publisher, editors, reporters, and staff. Positive, informative, entertaining, and thought-provoking summarizes its 60 years of professionalism. With the recent passing of John Derby, the exhibit is also a tribute to his life and work. At the opening, a short documentary of the Times will be debuted at 6 p.m. For more information about the exhibit, please contact the Museum office at (209) 723-2401.
