Black Gold: Faith, Strength, and Determination Shaping our Community

In conjunction with the annual Merced County Fair, a display tracing the history of the fairs in the county from the late 19th Century to the present day will open on June 28 at the Courthouse Museum. Merced County is one of the few counties in the State that has two annual county fairs: a spring fair in Los Banos and a summer fair in Merced. The exhibit will explore the political and cultural origins of this tradition. At the opening reception, Merced College Summer Community Band will perform live music by the courthouse steps at 6:00 p.m. Please join us for free ice cream, great music, and a visit of the good old times in a beautiful summer evening at the Courthouse Park. Two free tickets to the 2007 Merced County Fair will be given out as a door prize at the opening night. The Fairs exhibit will run through October 14.
